Please join UT Dallas the afternoons of Tuesday, April 11, Wednesday, April 12, and Thursday, April 13 as we celebrate the first recipient of the Richard Brettell Award in the Arts. Established with an endowment from Mrs. Eugene McDermott, the award recognizes the essential and fundamental role of the arts in the life of the University and our community. Every other year the award will honor an artist working in or between disciplines including the visual arts, music, literature, performance, architecture, and design. The Brettell Award consists of a prize of $150,000 and a week-long campus residency, during which the recipient will present major public lectures and interact in a variety of settings with UT Dallas students, staff, and faculty. The first recipient of the Brettell Award in the Arts will be announced in a special section in the Dallas Morning News on Sunday, April 9th. In the meantime, please save the dates of two public lectures that the distinguished recipient will deliver for the University and Dallas communities, and a public forum in the Arts District.
