The WERX Foundation, Inc. is Turning Up the Heat with More Chili Teams, More Technology Demos and More Prizes at the Second Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off to Benefit The WERX Foundation in McKinney and Love Life Foundation
McKinney, TX: Chili Teams will stir it up on Saturday October 15 at TUPPS Brewery at the Cotton Mill in McKinney for the “2nd Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off” benefitting The WERX Foundation and Love Life Foundation. The event will include TUPPS award winning beer, an acoustic set by Maylee Thomas Fuller and George Fuller in the afternoon, a technology showcase by entrepreneurs and an evening set by the band ‘Gander Slu’ (www.ganderslu.com). New this year, bowls of chili from Local Yocal will be available in addition to the opportunity to taste all 20 competitors’ chili.
The chili competition will be limited to 20 teams so now is the time for serious competitors to sign up for the competition. Applications are available at www.mckinneywerx.com or by emailing email@example.com or calling 214-856-4113. This year a $500 cash prize will be awarded to the chili judged The Best Overall Chili. In addition to a People’s Choice Award, new prizes have been added for Most Unique Chili and Hottest Chili. Each team will receive two t-shirts and two beer mugs with beer. Teams will be expected to deliver a minimum of 3 gallons of chili for judging and public tasting. The entry fee for the contest is $50.
The First Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off benefits The WERX Foundation of McKinney, a 501c3 non-profit organization that has the mission to build, grow and support small business and innovation in McKinney by providing start-ups with a collaborative work space, resources and educational programs, as well as fostering entrepreneurism in the community.
“Last year’s cook-off was great fun and we’re firing up the cookers again this year! Our entrepreneurs will have cool technology for people to try out – fly a mini drone, take a ride on a Segway, experience virtual reality and more!” said Christine Smith, Executive Director of The WERX.
Once again this year, The WERX chose The Love Life Foundation to partner with on the event. The mission of The Love Life Foundation is to expose the plight of abused children in our community and break the cycle of child abuse.
The 2nd Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off is sponsored by TUPPS Brewery, The McKinney Cotton Mill, First United Bank, Local Yocal, Collin College, The McKinney Economic Development Corporation and The McKinney Community Development Corporation.
