Fat Straws

Bubble tea is something you love or hate. The popularity of this bubble-tea shop shows that a lot of people fall within the former group. It might have something to do with the café being sandwiched between the Galleria Dallas and Valley View Center malls. Named after the wide straws used to consume the cold sweet and creamy black tea with tapioca balls, this location was named the best purveyor of the concoction in the Dallas Observer's 2008 "Best of Dallas" issue. It's a sleek café with ultra-cool design elements to match the variations of flavored bubble tea offered here, such as jasmine blueberry green tea and chocolate banana white tea. Some of the popular selections carry funky names. Would you try the Oolong Iron Goddess of Mercy or the Chocolate Monkey dessert tea? After that, lychee seems so pedestrian.
