The Junior League of Dallas (JLD), presenting sponsor Mary Kay Inc. and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, will award $40,000 in collegiate scholarships to five college-bound women in the Dallas area. A Signature Project of JLD, the Women LEAD (Learn. Excel. Achieve. Dream.) is open to women from Emmett J. Conrad High School, South Oak Cliff High School and Thomas Jefferson High School. The 2017 Women LEAD speech competition and awards ceremony will take place March 30, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at Junior League of Dallas Headquarters.
The special evening will feature speeches from each of the 11 senior female finalists. In the oratory competition, students will share how they have made a difference in their community and what drives them to give back. Following the speeches, the judging panel will determine the winners and award a total of $40,000 in college scholarship funds to five students based on the merits of their scholarship application and speech presentation. The first place winner will receive a one-time $15,000 scholarship, and the second place winner will receive a one-time $10,000 scholarship. Third, fourth and fifth place winners will each receive one-time $5,000 scholarships.
