If you could pick one bar to be your local haunt, the Local Oak might be it. The prices are affordable, the food is solid and the dining room and bar area is filled with locals from the neighborhood, too. Local Oak is in Oak Cliff, though, and if you’re not nearby, it’s worth a drive. Grab a seat at the bar, order a local beer and peruse a menu that may look small, but is filled with good food. The burger packs big flavors and the wings, which are breaded, fried, then sauced, are unnaturally juicy. The enchiladas put most Tex-Mex restaurants to shame. Drive down Zang Boulevard until you see a massive Oak tree on the corner of 7th Street. Then make sure someone else is driving home.
