Walking down Knox Street past the behemoth Apple store, you can’t miss Wild About Harry’s, bedecked as it is in neon signs and paintings of creepy hot-dog men. The inside feels like a classic soda fountain, albeit more Saved By the Bell than Happy Days — think black and white tile and primary colors. Besides an array of hot dogs, Harry’s is also known for frozen custard, an egg-rich ice cream that’s superbly smooth, creamy and dense. In addition to the standard chocolate and vanilla, rotating flavors might include cookies ‘n’ cream, mango or toffee crunch. A generously sized single scoop with a topping — think sprinkles, candy or hot fudge — will run you less than four bucks. If you need something that can be consumed one-handed, the thick, rich milkshakes are killer.
