Café Italia doesn't look like much from the outside--a converted service station with a makeshift patio tacked onto the front. Inside, though, a warm color scheme and attentive service put to rest any lingering thoughts of Jiffy Lube. The dining room is ingeniously broken up by columns of hanging fabric, creating an intimate atmosphere without taking up valuable space. The menu is equally clever, a mix of Italian cuisine and Texas grub that results in dishes like chicken-fried pork tenderloin served over creamy poblano pepper-jack grits. Beats the heck out of an oil change.
