Los Lupes, part of a family-run, five-restaurant local chain, advertises that it serves "authentic Mexican food prepared fresh daily from traditional recipes." That means a few ethnic specialties such as lengua--calf's tongue--are on the menu, but most of Los Lupes' items are recognizably Tex-Mex. Not a problem, as they're cheap and good and obviously popular at this busy, down-home location. The beef fajitas were tender and properly seared, and we also liked the Steak à la Mexicana--beef shorn from the "T," cut in chunks and sautéed with onions, peppers and a delicious tomato-based sauce. This location also has a room that's available for private parties.
