RL's Blues Palace - Closed

2715 Meadow St. Dallas, TX 75215 | Oak Cliff & South Dallas | 214-421-9867

Location Description:

R.L.'s Blues Palace #2 is named for Dallas blues man and local radio disc jockey R.L. Griffin, who owns, runs and performs at the club, which has been a Dallas staple since the original spot -- known as The Blues Alley -- opened in 1985. Since then, someone has been performing contemporary and traditional blues onstage nearly every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at the nationally known juke joint located just three blocks west of Fair Park. Griffin renamed the place The Blues Palace in the early '90s, and a move across the street to a bigger, swankier spot in the late '90s prompted the change to "Blues Palace #2." There's usually a $10 cover to see Griffin perform with the Show Band, and the club features other local and national talent. The bar serves beer and wine and offers setups for drinks. The club's live show is broadcast locally on KKDA 770 AM on Saturday nights. The place can get packed early, so call ahead to reserve a table.
