Suze
4345 W. Northwest Highway, #720
Dallas, TX 75220
Its been named one of the 10 great dining sites for a down-to-earth repast by USA Today or some similar canary carpet. And theyre right. Suze is a bistro exquisitely cramped into romantic intimacy if you suck in your gut and squint. Its deep red dining room (an appetite-arousing hue) has a phone-booth-sized wine cellar for added squeeze appeal. So watch out: Theyll arrest you and chain you to the displaced phone booth out back if you attempt to dine here without reservations. Chef Gilbert Garza, who purchased the restaurant some seven years ago from founder Suzie Priore, foments simple Asian-lashed, Mediterr-ized American fare: lush foie gras hovering over dried cherry cassis dribbles; fried green tomatoes with shaved manchego in marinara; salmon steaks tangoing a chilled cucumber chili mint salad; lamb chopsroasted into light crustinesswith tabbouleh and mango cherry chutney. The menu spools through hummus, ceviche, sesame lovash and Portuguese linguini (with chorizo). Thats a lot of cuisine for a subcompact economy bistro.
