A dish here can provide customers with way more than the recommended daily caloric intake. That's how Cheesecake Factory rolls, and it does so with gusto. Even before entering the palatial establishment, one is met with a grandiose façade in a height that rivals one of the restaurant's signature cheesecakes. The place -- and cake -- is huge. And to think this all began in the kitchen of Oscar and Evelyn Overton in 1940s Detroit. The Overton's son David opened the first Cheesecake Factory in Beverly Hills in 1978, armed with his mother's recipes (more than 20). The chain (and its food) is now bigger than any of Overton's wildest dreams. More than dessert is served. There are specialties like Teriyaki Chicken as well as pizzas of all stripe, burgers and "weight management salads," too.
