Les Highet and Erma Hueneke founded the first Original Pancake House in Portland, Oregon, in 1953. Since then, the family and franchisees have exported the beloved restaurant coast-to-coast. The popular breakfast giants at the eatery are the Apple Pancake, a large pancake with sautéed apples and cinnamon sugar, and the Dutch Baby, a behemoth pancake with lemon and whipped butter that slowly melts into rivulets down the dish's sides and probably off the plate. Not content to stop there, the Dutch Baby is also liberally sprinkled with confectioner's sugar. The rolled mushroom omelet with a mushroom sherry sauce is among the other commonly ordered selections.
