The original location of this higher-end Mexico City-style taquería chain opened in 2007. Since then, branches have opened all over Dallas (and one in San Antonio). Each time, owners Markus Pineyro and John E. Tuma have upped the game for upscale authentic Mexican food, moving beyond the namesake food. The menu now includes more than a dozen salsas (including peanut habanero, poblano-pepita pesto and black bean) and specialty margaritas mixed with tequila on tap. The restaurant is appointed in a style that melds traditional Mexican décor with modern flare and sleek lines. Because of this, the selections fetch a higher price point than the average taco shop's fare. What you won't find here is anything associated with Tex-Mex (meaning no orange-dyed cheese).
