A couple local record label deals and signings went through this weekend--although, to be fair, the two acts involved couldn't be more different.

Late on Friday, Idol Records announced that it would be putting out the next disc from from former Sorta frontman Trey Johnson (above, right), called Mount Pelée. The disc will be released on July 28, with CD release shows already planned for that week at Good Records and AllGood Cafe.

And, also over the weekend, Australian-based metal label Riot Entertainment announced the signing of Free Reign (above. left), the local metal band featuring Marc Colombo, Leonard Davis and Cory Procter of the Dallas Cowboys. The band will play its final show before the start of the football season on Saturday night.
