Giveaway: Five Pairs of Tickets To See Bill Callahan at the Granada Theater on Friday
For two albums now, the artist formerly known as Smog and (Smog) has gone by his birth name, Bill Callahan , and despite of some early concern from his fans, the past few years have really only seen Callahan's fanbase grow. It helps, of course, that 2007's Woke on a Whaleheart was Callahan's poppiest to date. And while this year's Sometimes I Wish I Were an Eagle , which was produced by DFW's own John Congleton, tones down the poppiness a little bit, the songs are no less hauntingly beautiful and/or soul-crushing than anything else he's released. Actually, in my opinion, the song "Eid Ma Clack Shaw" is as affecting as anything he's ever done--and for a guy with 11 studio albums under his belt since 1990, that's saying something, I think.
