There's been a lot of talk about the upcoming Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Show that's going on at The Loft tonight -- and most of it is about the possibility of Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Magnum showing up and adding to the "surprise" factor, a rumor that's persisted in light of his appearance at several recent Elephant 6 shows, including one in Brooklyn last December.
Regardless of whether Magnum shows up, though, it's bound to be a great show -- the orchestra features members of other Elephant 6 bands such as Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power and more, all playing each other's music in celebration of the Athens, Georgia, collective. And, hey, it's not often that there's a chance to see all of these people together at the same venue -- especially for an event shrouded in mystery, as this one is. Let's face it: You're gonna get curious about a show when, on top of wondering which of the rotating band members will be there, the show also has the word "surprise" in its title.
Of course, the best way to find out what the surprise is would be to come out and see for yourself. And, thanks the fine folks at The Loft, we have five pairs of tickets to give away to some lucky DC9 readers. Interested in winning? Find out how after the jump.
