Eluvium combines minimalist electronic, piano and shoegaze music. Among mastermind Matthew Cooper's connections to the area is a remix of "So Long Lonesome" by Explosions In The Sky. Cooper's latest album Similies, which was released on Temporary Residence, includes more traditional songwriting and vocals.
Sleep Whale, meanwhile, is a Denton institution in folkish ambient music. They were featured on a DC9 Live at El Sibil a few months ago. Last year, the band changed its name from Mom to Sleep Whale after confusions arising during their European tour--something the band may have to explain when they open up for Eluvium on Mother's Day.
Also playing is ambient folk singer-songwriter Benouit Pioulard. Should make for a good show.
