WeShotJR Announces The End of Its Five-Year Run, Says Site Will Shut Down in October.
The often-controversial, sometimes provocative local music blog WeShotJR, notorious around town for a few reasons, not the least of which has always been its writers' insistence on keeping their identities anonymous, announced today in a post penned by head honcho "Stoned Ranger" that its five-year run (the site launched in January 2006) will come to an end in either mid- or late-October:
So it's sort of been a long time coming for those of us at WeShotJR HQ, but after several months of thinking and talking about it, we've decided, for a variety of reasons, that the time has come to put an end to this website after nearly 5 years. The reasons are many, of course, and we'll explain a lot of them to you here in the coming weeks, but with writers moving to different cities and taking on more involved jobs, etc., we feel like we've slowly been running out of the free time necessary to run this website the right way, and therefore should put a stop to it rather than continue on in a reduced capacity. Admittedly, we've had our spats with the site over the years, but we'll miss their contributions to the local music conversation, which, when done well, were done very well. We wish all of the site's staff the best of luck with their future endeavors.
