19-Year-Old Garland Man Pleads Guilty to Being a Bank Robber After His Mom Turns Him In
That photo you see at right comes from the F.B.I.'s Bandit Tracker website, which we've perused in the past. It was snapped June 14 of last year at a State Bank of Texas branch in Garland, off IH-30. The bandit in question: 19-year-old Anthony Blue of Garland. Which we now know thanks to Anthony's mother.
Anthony was at the Dallas federal courthouse this morning, standing in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Renée Toliver. He told the judge: Yes, he's responsible for that bank robbery, during which he slipped the teller a note that read, "50's 100's and no body gets hurt, sorry." He also acknowledged using the very same note at a Community Bank in Rockwall the very same day. A month later, he told the judge, he did the same thing at an American Nation Bank in Quinlan. Which is why he pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery today and faces a max sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count.
Says the release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Anthony's mom is also a fan of Bandit Tracker, because shortly after the July robbery ...
Blue's mother called the Federal Bureau of Investigation, after visiting the website bandittracker.com, and told agents that she believed her son had robbed the State Bank of Texas in Garland and the Community Bank in Rockwall. FBI agents visited Blue's mother and her husband and presented bank surveillance photos from those robberies, along with a photo of the individual who robbed the American National Bank in Quinlan. Both the defendant's mother and her husband identified Blue as the bank robber from all three banks.
