Jeffrey Thorn joined the Dallas Police Department in December 2008. During his probationary period, he was assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. But, at this very moment, Thorn is in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center after having been arrested by Dallas police on a sexual assault charge today. Lt. Andy Harvey, a department spokesman, just sent word of Thorn's arrest and termination.

According to the police report, Thorn was on-duty Thursday night, at 11:50, when he allegedly assaulted a woman on Cleveland Street in the Cedars, less than one mile from DPD HQ on S. Lamar. According to Harvey's e-mail, the DPD's Public Integrity Unit began investigating Thorn on Friday, and "the investigation revealed there was sufficient evidence to charge Officer Thorn with Sexual Assault F/1," meaning a first-degree felony.
