Jesus, first they get Kevin Garnett. Now, Boston gets ... Eric Gagne. Oh, well. Not quite the same. Reports ESPN.com:

Eric Gagne is reportedly headed to Boston to bolster the Red Sox' bullpen.

Gagne, who had a no-trade clause, must waive it for the deal could be completed. ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney reported Tuesday afternoon that Gagne is seriously considering doing just that to join the American League East leaders.

Also Wednesday, a source told ESPN.com's Amy K. Nelson that the Red Sox and Gagne's agent, Scott Boras, are discussing restructuring Gagne's contract. Included in the discussions, according to the source, are changing the incentives from games finished to overall games and possibly adding in moving costs.

Gagne's got a 2.16 ERA this season, his first with the Rangers. And 16 saves. So, of course Jon Daniels is dumping the dude. Pitching. Who needs pitching? --Robert Wilonsky
