Do You Miss Pro Basketball Enough to Want to Watch the Josh Howard All-Stars?
Your World Champion Dallas Mavericks were supposed to take on the Indiana Pacers tonight at the American Airlines Center, the sixth of eight preseason games leading to November 1's regular-season opener against Chicago at the AAC. But with each passing day, it's looking more and more like the lockout will eat up much if not most if not all of the season; hence Dirk's comments over the weekend that he's considering a head-home to train with the Germans: "If the lockout still stays strong then I've definitely got to look into something there in January, February."
Some ballers -- Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade among them -- are in talks to world-tour for big money, six figures to $1 million, depending. And then there's this: Word just arrived in the in-box that former Dallas Maverick Josh Howard's putting together a small-star group for a 10-city charity-game tour benefiting his foundation.
Among the stops: a November 12 game at P.C. Cobb Complex on Robert B. Cullum, across from Fair Park, that'll feature the likes of Jason Terry and Corey Brewer of the Mavs, Kimball's own Quinton Ross, former Mav-turned-Bobcat DeSagana Diop, Seagoville High School's LaMarcus Aldridge (one of The Association's comeback players of 2011, with the Trail Blazers) and others. Tickets are $15 -- $50, if you want to sit on the floor.
