Oh. Joy. In its effort to take down Starbucks as the nation's provider of overpriced coffee, Dunkin' Donuts has decided to expand from 4,400 to 15,000 stores across the U.S., which would make it one of the biggest chains in the history of ever. Says in today's Chicago Tribune that DD's going after both Starbucks and McDonald's; Lynette McKee, vice president of franchising for the Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Brands Inc., tells the paper Dunkin' Donuts "likely will first target the Dallas area, followed by the Phoenix area, for the rollout of its national expansion." There are plenty of Dunkin' Donuts around town--or were, because the company's Web site comes up blank when you try to find one just in Texas. (Google comes up with about six locally, plus a few other "unverified" locations.) Will not be a problem in the near future. --Robert Wilonsky
