I’m not surprised the Cowboys got their ass kicked today. Doesn’t mean I’m not madder than Mike Singletary about a 21-point loss that felt more like 41.
The dismal performance in the Meadowlands doesn’t exactly belong on this list, but the putrid quarterbacking and the lack of defense effort down the stretch was, in fact, embarrassing.
Brad Johnson, as you’ll read tomorrow, is arguably – not surprisingly, but arguably – the worst Cowboys’ quarterback ever. The half-assed tackling of Mike Jenkins and DeMarcus Ware in the fourth quarter was Pop Warner quality. And the fact that Jason Witten was on the field with Brooks Bollinger is simply inexplicable.
Like I said last week, without Tony Romo this game was an inevitable loss. The game at Washington in two weeks will be the biggest, most telling game of the season.
The Cowboys enter the bye week at 5-4 and in last place in the NFC East.
So what do you think?
A) Romo, Felix Jones, Terence Newman, et al, get healthy and the Cowboys surge into the playoffs.
B) With the lack of pride and character displayed two of the last three weeks, the Cowboys have no shot at making the playoffs. – Richie Whitt
