ABC won't announce which pilots it's turning into full-blown series till May 17. But late last night, Deadline's Nellie Andreeva wrote that it's all but certain that exec producer Darren Star's adaptation of Kim Gatlin's book Good Christian Bitches -- set, of course, beneath The Bubble -- is a go show following "a great screening" for ABC execs Thursday.
The Entertainment Weekly hitting stands tomorrow concurs: "ABC's Good Christian Bitches, starring Popular's Leslie Bibb, has more than a prayer of landing a slot -- and not a chance in hell of keeping that fantastic title." Writes Andreeva, "The only element of uncertainly about Good Christian Bitches' future as a new ABC series next season seems to be what it will be called as it will definitely won't be GCB."
Actually, there is one other element of uncertainty: Will it return to Dallas, where the pilot was filmed a few weeks back? Janis Burklund, head of the Dallas Film Commission, tells Unfair Park she's still waiting for the official yay or nay. ABC-TV publicist Erin Felentzer, who handles the network's drama schedule, says network officials just "don't know yet" and suggests it may come down, in part, to money. The fact the state Lege is talking about gutting film incentives in the new budget can't help.
