By now, no doubt, you've seen the video of Paula Abdul on Seattle's Fox affiliate last week. Looks like she was, ya know, drunk and/or high. Her people have said, like, No, she wasn't. She went on Leno on Monday and said, like, No, I wasn't. Nope, she insists, it was all a technical difficulty -- which is the same excuse my brother used when he was 16 and plowed Mom's car into the painted brick wall on Forest Lane doing 100. "I guess Alabama was in my ear and so was Seattle at the same time, so I'm answering questions to the wrong answers of the cities," she told The Unfunniest Man in Late Night Television two days ago. Yeah, officer, sorry I was driving in two lanes, but I was, like, hearing all these voices and shit?
Well, there's plenty more video of Abdul to go around from that same day -- some of it, local.
Here she is having more technical difficulties on San Francisco's Fox affiliate. And here she is hearing more voices while doing Dallas press, with KDFW-Channel 4's Good Day entertainment reporter Maria Sotolongo, who bravely struggles through an interview with a woman who's more than a little dee-dee-dee-DEE. (Update: So much for bravely: You click on the link now, and all you get's Maria doing the weather.)
I get drunk watching the video, which Fox4's running unedited. But, really, Maria? You thank Paula for being "energetic?" Hope you take her up on the invite to go dancing. Drinks are on Paula, remember. --Robert Wilonsky
