Series Made in Dallas Will Open, Close FOX's Weeknight Prime-Time Schedule This Fall
Jon Voight and James Wolk in Lonestar, which will shoot in Dallas beginning this summer
Fox Broadcasting Co.
Like I said Thursday, Dallas will serve as the backdrop for three network TV series come summertime, an announcement made official this morning when FOX revealed its fall prime-time line-up with Lonestar (formerly Midland) front and center. From the early-a.m. press release:
LONESTAR, a sophisticated and provocative drama set against the sprawling backdrop of big Texas oil, will premiere this fall. From Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman (Party of Five), writer Kyle Killen and directed by Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer), the compelling series stars newcomer James Wolk as a charismatic and brilliant schemer who has entangled himself in a deep, complex web from which he can't break free. He's caught between two very different lives and two very different women.
And now we know when the series will air: Monday nights at 8 after House, in the slot currently occupied by 24. Which means Dallas-made shows will bracket the network's weeknight schedule: According to the FOX Fall 2010 Primetime Schedule also released this morning, The Good Guys -- which sneak peeks on the network Wednesday at 7 p.m., following its premiere at the Lakewood Theater last night -- airs Friday nights at 8 after The Human Target. So much for its just being a summer schedule-filler.
Update at 10:25 a.m.: Over at Deadline Hollywood, Fox's entertainment president Kevin Reilly says of Lonestar, "[It's] a very cool show, a sophisticated and daring soap, a modern Dallas set against the Texas oil industry and a complex character study." And, concerning The Good Guys pairing up with The Human Target, he insists that "we have a legitimate shot at taking the night with shows that are truly compatible."
