Rumors have long been circulating that something's up with Valley View Center. Not sure what, exactly; no one's returning calls (paging Greg Maloney). Even local commercial Realtors aren't exactly sure. But ... something. Involving the Macy's spot. Like, say, this: On Thursday, per its agenda, the City Plan Commission will vote on divvying up the 70-acre property at Preston and LBJ, per the request of SH Montfort LBJ, L.P.; MacerichValley View, L.P.; and Dillard Texas Operating, L.P.
The mall and property will be split into three chunks: one 20.5874-acre lot (the former Macy's location), one 12.1411-acre lot (where the Dillard's is) and another 37.9198-acre lot (the rest of the mall). Paul Nelson, the city planner handling the proposal, says he doesn't know why; the ownership doesn't have to tell him why they're making the request.
