One day after Tom Hicks demanded the resignation of Rick Parry -- chief executive of Liverpool FC, which Hicks co-owns with frienemy George Gillett Jr. -- the English newspapers have pretty much had it with the Ugly Dallasite. Says The Sun in one piece amongst a package of stories: "Hicks is JR of Football." Adds another Sun spot: "Liverpool's off-the-field turmoil has finally erupted into all-out war."
Parry, who hasn't seen Hicks' letter demanding his ouster, just finds the whole affair offensive -- as in, "It’s offensive to the players, the manager and the fans. In the week when we had another great European triumph, there’s more dirty linen being washed.” Not surprisingly, George Gillet stands by Parry, who "retains our full support." But, hey, how 'bout them Stars? And Rangers? --Robert Wilonsky
