Former Dallas Cowboy Dwayne Goodrich is serving a 12.5-year sentence in the Wallace Unit in Colorado City for negligent homicide and failure to stop and render aid.

As a Dallas Cowboys cornerback for three seasons, Goodrich's career was a disappointment. On December 8, 2002, in Texas Stadium, Goodrich trailed behind then-San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens as he scored the game-winning touchdown.

Goodrich slammed his BMW into three Good Samaritans, killing two of them and maiming the third. In trial, he testified he thought he had hit "debris."

"I know the perception is that I was drunk. I'd probably think that too if I heard some dude ran over three people. I'd think he was drunk off his ass. But I wasn't."

Trying times: On August 15, 2003, criminal defense attorney Doug Fletcher (left) stood by Goodrich as the jury returned its guilty verdict after six hours of deliberation.

Good times: At the University of Tennessee, Goodrich was named MVP in the Volunteers' 1999 National Championship Game victory over Florida State. His proud father, Walter Goodrich, attended the post-game celebration.
