While the Rangers have
been mired in bankruptcy, team general manager Jon Daniels managed to acquire veteran catcher Bengie
Molina, left-handed pitcher Cliff Lee and $4.25 million from their former teams to help offset their salaries.

The Rangers are counting on recently acquired ace Cliff Lee
to lead the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Lee dominated in the postseason last year with the Phillies, including two World Series victories over the Yankees.

One of the Rangers five first-round picks in 2007,
the jovial Tommy Hunter has emerged as one of the best
young pitchers in baseball this year.
