Every community movement needs a champion. While a number of bar owners, venue operators, and land owners have worked hard to overcome the challenges facing Deep Ellum over the past several years, few have had the impact that the Kettle Art Gallery has. The collaborative effort between property owner Don Cass and local artist Frank Campagna created a grass-roots movement many credit with helping to create the thriving arts community in the once blighted neighborhood. The work that the gallery does outside its walls--on the sides of buildings and the pillars of overpasses--has become Deep Ellum's hallmark.
