Jim Parsons lived for a short and miserable time in Ladonia, Texas, a place where in 1951 white men beat to death a black sharecropper, he says. Parsons says the killing and subsequent lack of action by authorities changed the course of his life.

Eddie Bogar, an 80-year-old Fort Worth resident, confirms Harrison Ocie Jones, his brother-in-law, was beaten to death by white men in Ladonia. A death certificate that says Jones died of tuberculosis is laughable, he says.

Harrison Wendell Jones was 7 years old when his father died, and he doesn't remember much of him. Until recently, Jones believed a falling car killed his father. Death threats were enough to silence older family members who knew the truth.

Harrison Ocie Jones' body lies in a pauper's grave in the New Harmony/Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Ladonia. Locating it will be the first hurdle in investigating his death 50 years ago.

Myles Porter, Fannin County district attorney, says the remains of Harrison Ocie Jones should be exhumed.
