Jennifer King has a passion for Italian ceramics. Her Plano home is punctuated with hand-painted plates, vases and pitchers in iridescent reds, greens, golds and blues. Along a wall in a small room are glimmering steel racks that hold cups, teapots, plates and loose ceramic tiles. This chamber is the heart of King's Internet ceramic importing company called Via Veneto, from which she generates roughly $10,000 in annual revenue. King launched Via Veneto in February 2001 as a part-time business so she could work at home and still care for her preschool-aged daughter, who is stricken with diabetes.
