If you want to feel festive and do something designed for the winter we don't have in Dallas, head to Fort Worth and skate on real ice at Panther Island Ice (223 NE 4th St.). On Christmas day, the rink is open from 2- 11 p.m. Admission is $11, which includes skates.

Movies at Alamo Drafthouse
You probably won't be able to get into Star Wars: The Force Awakens if you haven't bought your tickets, but there are other movies out. Or didn't you know we're in the middle of Oscars season? On Christmas Day at the Alamo Drafthouse (100 S. Central Expressway) you can see Joy, Sisters, Concussion, In the Heart of the Sea or The Big Short. There are multiple showings throughout the day. Klyde Warren Park
The weather on Christmas day is likely to be sunny and mild, which means a trip to Klyde Warren Park (2012 Woodall Rodgers Freeway) is in order. This downtown green space offers unparalleled views of downtown Dallas and there are plenty of tables to sit at, if you pack a picnic of turkey, ham, stuffing and gravy.

Drinks or Dinner at CBD Provisions in the Joule Hotel
Pro tip: If you're looking for somewhere to grab some food or a drink when your family has snapped your last nerve, head to a hotel bar. Double pro tip: Head to a good hotel bar. In the heart of downtown, the Joule hotel (1530 Main St.) is the perfect place to disconnect for a little while. Sit at the bar at CBD Provisions and have access to their food menu as well.

Drinks or Dinner at Meddlesome Moth
Looking for food and a beer? The Meddlesome Moth will be doing its normal thing starting at 5 p.m. Christmas Day, with the added menu items of turkey with cranberry-apple mustard, a prime rib and brandied sweet potatoes. Use this information to save the day when mom burns the turkey.
