8 Places to Catch Pokemon in DFW

There are 151 unique Pokemon in Pokemon Go, the app that has people in Dallas bumping heads and begging restaurants to let them inside just to catch a Pikachu that's hiding on their patio. In order to "catch 'em all," you have to visit different environments, since certain Pokemon live near water, some live in woodsy environments and others live in more urban settings. Here are some of the top places to visit in Dallas if you want to cover all of your bases.

Victory Park
2500 Victory Ave.
If you're looking for grass-dwelling Bulbasaur, two-headed bird Doduo or crustacean Krabby, they've all been spotted downtown at Victory Park, in or near the American Airlines Center.

Bachmann Lake
Water Pokemon such as Dratini, a worm-like baby dragon, can be found at Bachmann Lake near Love Field Airport. Cole Park, Robert E. Lee Park and Katy Trail are other good bets for water-dwellers.

Fair Park
There's a lot of ground to cover at Fair Park, which is swarming with Rattatas. Plus, you'll get to take in the world's largest collection of Art Deco exhibit buildings and you won't risk getting run over by a car when you get totally sucked into your phone.

Dallas Arboretum

Different Pokemon can be found near parks and bodies of water such as lakes, so the Dallas Arboretum on White Rock Lake is the perfect place to find a mix. There are lots of Pokestops and three gyms. Parking is free every day after 3 p.m. in July and the Arboretum stays open late on Wednesdays, until 8 p.m. Admission is $15.

Shops at Legacy
5741 Legacy Drive, No. 315, Plano
There are at least 10 Pokestops at the Shops at Legacy, which is so popular it's been known to crash Pokemon Go's server. One of the best spots for rare Pokemon is the pond around the Marriott Hotel, where the following ones have been captured: Abra, Snorlax, Scyther, Gengars, Eevee, Pidgy, Spearow, Slowpoke, Dratini, Ekans, Psyduck, Kingler and Bulbasaur.
Dallas Zoo
650 S. RL Thornton Freeway 
The Dallas Zoo is a great place to go hunting for Pokemon because the exhibits where they're lurking are all well labeled, making it easy to find your targets. Nidoran, Pidge, Spearow and Charizard have all been seen there. Not to mention you'll also get to check out some pretty awesome living, breathing animals for your trouble. Admission is $15.

Addison Circle
Three-hundred people were in Addison Circle Park last night catching Pokemon such as Onyx, Ivysaur, Hitmonchan and Meowth. Nearby WaterTower Theatre is even jumping on the trend, inviting people to pay a visit to their theater and kill two birds with one stone by catching some Pokemon as well as tickets to their production of Tony-winner One Man, Two Guvnors, which opens August 5.

NorthPark Center

If you'd rather work on your skills from the confines of an air-conditioned mall, NorthPark Center is the place to go. It's been described as Pokemon "heaven" for monsters such as winged Zubats. The Theodore apparently has a few Pokemon hiding there, too, and the staff there are welcoming to players.
