In the past few weeks, I would be willing to bet you've found yourself wondering, "Will Sandra Bullock win an Oscar? I mean, she's already won the SAG and the Golden Globe; all signs point to yes. But Helen Miren is nominated in the same category. How can you out-act Helen Miren?" If you're one of those people--like myself--who is shamelessly and inexplicably obsessed with awards shows, a live screening of the Academy Awards at the Angelika Film Center on Sunday is right up your ally. Be there to witness all of the red carpet moments, glitz and glamour that only the Academy Awards can offer--and all on the big screen! And even if awards shows aren't your thing, dual hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin have great potential to make even the categories no one cares about (Best Sound Mixing anyone?) bearable throughout the evening. And if that isn't enough to get you on the award show bandwagon, the Angelika offers, amongst the normal concession stand fare, beer and wine both by the glass and by the bottle; good thing the award show screening is completely free. Call 214-841-4713 for show time details and more information.
