During a spring when things have been blown up or blown down with disturbing frequency, it’s easy to lose track of all the people in need of help. Luckily for the people in Granbury whose homes were damaged by a tornado May 15, students in the award-winning photography program at St. Mark’s School in Dallas haven’t forgotten them. They’ve donated more than 100 of their best photographs to a one-day special exhibition and sale at Banks Fine Art, where they hope to raise at least $12,000 to support Habitat for Humanity of Hood County. Scores of the homes damaged or destroyed in the tornado, which killed six people, were built by the agency in Granbury’s Rancho Brazos Estates subdivision. Though the sale’s for a good cause and features works by students, don’t expect to get amateurish art for your tax-deductible donation. “Oh my God, they’re unbelievable,” gallery owner Maloree Banks says of the photos. “It doesn’t look — honest to goodness — like a student exhibition.” The sale is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Banks Fine Art, 1313 Slocum St., Suite 103, in the Design District.
