Obviously, DART is not the best public transportation system in the world. Or the United States for that matter. Probably not even the best in Texas. So when the people of Saturday's Urban Challenge event say you can only use public transportation to find the checkpoints in their charity scavenger hunt, it really will be quite a--ahem--challenge. It works like this: Two person teams will show up 8 a.m. Saturday at P.D. Johnson's Dog Day Deli, 3839 McKinney Ave., where they'll begin their journey to find all 12 checkpoints and gather photographic evidence of their travels. Then they'll wait at a trolley station or bus stop. Then they'll wait some more (weekend schedules and all). Some time later, if they're lucky, you might find them on the DART rail. Several hours (possibly days) later, the triumphant team will arrive, objective complete. We're guessing whoever wins will probably get a prize or possibly be awarded membership into some type of sorority/church youth group. All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Registration is $60 per team member and on-line registration ends at 11:59 p.m. Thursday. Visit active.com or myspace.com/urbanchallengedallas for more info.
