A vaudeville act with a laser light show is kind of like a covered wagon with a hybrid engine; it's anachronistic, paradoxical and probably not necessary. But clearly, necessity is not a factor when developing entertainment that revolves around single-wavelength radiation. Just ask all those Pink Floyd fans. They don't go 'cause they need to, they go 'cause it's cool to be able to visualize "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun," man. It's entertainment at its most visually stimulating. And visually stimulated you will be at Lazer Vaudeville, a show that juxtaposes old vaudeville staples like juggling and hoop rolling with a sophisticated light show that will blow your mind. In a further nod to the laser show ethos, the performers will play with black lights to create illusions. But if all of the Tim Leary homage gets to be too stimulating, you can still look forward to the juggling acts with running chainsaws and the audience participation, where someone will break out of a straitjacket. This night has it all. Seriously. The Lazer Vaudeville extravaganza rolls into the Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive in Richardson, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 to $20 and can be purchased at eisemanncenter.com.
Sun., Sept. 28, 2:30 p.m., 2008
