The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence invite everybody -- yes, everybody -- to work a red dress and hit the dance floor Saturday at TMC in honor of their Red Dress Party.
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI) was founded in San Francisco in 1979 and has been leading HIV/AIDS activism education and prevention longer than any other organization in the country. The DFW Sisters, which is throwing Saturday's Red Dress bash, is a branch of SPI that has been in Dallas for just over a year now.
VIP access to the party goes from 7 to 9 p.m. and includes hors d'oeuvres, a live auction of artwork by Daniel and Manuel Padilla, gift baskets from various local businesses, a $250 private photo session with a local photographer, and more. The main event kicks off at 9 p.m., and guests are encouraged to dance long into the night (no, really, the party goes 'til 4 a.m.). Guest DJs Ronnie Bruno and Mary XTC are offering up tunes, and for those who didn't have time for last minute shopping, there will be dress rental. Fair warning, though, dresses are available on a first come, first served basis.
A handful of special guests will join the dance party including Miss Gay America 1995, Patti Le Plae Safe and Sisters from across the country.
The event costs $20 in advance, $30 at the door, and $50 for VIP. All proceeds go towards the Dallas Resource Center and the DFW Sisters which is applying for 501(c)3 exemption at the end of this month.
