The glut of awful vampire flicks can be blamed on the campy Twilight series, but we like to think the influx of zombie-infested films rests on a higher cinematic level. Sparkly, lovesick vampires ain't got nothing on the neo-classic Shaun of the Dead or AMC's creeptastic The Walking Dead. Not to mention the zombie film that rules them all, Night of the Living Dead. The genre is at its most disturbing when zombies sprout up in a recognizable, once-normal world -- just like the post-apocalyptic Atlanta in The Walking Dead. The USA Film Society invites fans to watch the show's season two debut Sunday night on the big screen at the Angelika. Fans are welcome to dress up; in fact, the more menacing, the better. Prizes will be awarded for the best zombie makeup, and drinks will be served in the Zombie Lounge. The premiere starts at 8 p.m. at Angelika Film Center Dallas, Mockingbird Station, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free, but seats are limited. For more information contact the USA Film Festival at 214-821-6300.
