The SlaughterHouse has been terrorizing Dallas for a full decade. In their second year at their new Deep Ellum location, the 16,000 square-foot haunted house has been completely renovated. It's populated by 40 actors, old horror movie sets, hundreds of props and something to scare just about everyone: bloody chainsaws, dismembered mannequins, body bags, enormous demon heads, creepy dolls, long, dark hallways, and what we can only describe as a "clown room." Slaughter House doesn't recommend their attraction for anyone under 10 years old, and even that, says owner Darren Roberts, might be pushing it. "It's pretty intense," he says modestly. We're especially nervous about the ominously normal-looking living room scene. The house is located at 2615 Elm Street. It's open Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 8, Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 14-16 and October 21-23, and every night from the 27th through the 31st. Tickets are $18 (cash only) at the door. Check weslaughter.com for more information.
Fridays, Saturdays; Sundays; Thu., Oct. 27; Mon., Oct. 31. Starts: Sept. 30. Continues through Oct. 31, 2011
