The Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse chain is moving to DFW, and their Richardson location (100 South Central Expressway, Suite 14) opens August 9. In preparation for the grand opening the theater has been screening free films voted on by you. On Saturday, the Drafthouse’s outdoor summer series wraps up with the beloved classic The Goonies. Embark on an adventure of your own before the film starts. The gates open at 7 p.m. and there’ll be plenty of food from mobile eateries and beer from local breweries. Channel your inner Chunk because there will be free Baby Ruth candy bars galore and a special type of rocky road ice cream. Additional surprises will delight throughout the evening, like Goonie-themed giveaways and real-live pirates. Cool points go to anyone who dresses up like their favorite Goonie. Bring the blankets and your own group of misfits and be transported back to a time before treasure maps gave way to Google maps. Visit drafthouse.com.
