I often find myself longing for the days of good old-fashioned freak shows since I never really got to see one myself. I've seen some two-headed snakes and tiny horses and such, but no two-headed boys or dog-faced ladies, if you catch my drift. (Sure, the crowds at the State Fair are sort of a freak show, but it’s still not quite the same.) The play Freakshow tells the story of one such turn-of-the-century traveling exhibition and the drama that unfolds as the "freaks" grow tired of "being stared at." What ever happened to letting your freak flag fly, man? Finally I get my chance to see a freak show and they're reluctant, emo freaks?! Lame. Freakshow shows at 8 p.m. this Wednesday and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through May 17 at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive. Tickets are $20. Call 214-670-8749 or visit bathhousecultural.com.
Wed., April 30, 8 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: April 30. Continues through May 17, 2008
