There's nothing classier than spending a Texas summer night drinking on-the-house Grey Goose cocktails while watching '90s movies at The Angelika theater's pavilion, right? The dark high school comedy Election, starring (younger) familiar faces Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick, will be playing this Thursday as part of the Summer Outdoor Movie Series sponsored by the fashionistas over at DailyCandy.com. The movie revolves around a school election--but with its R-rated sexual and drug-related content, there's a bit more pizazz to it than penciling in ballot bubbles and coloring campaign posters. Perhaps that explains why it became a "cult classic"--despite its failed 1999 commercial debut at the box office--and is ranked as No. 61 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies" list. Because this event will clearly be the trendiest place to see and be seen on Thursday, Mockingbird neighbors Vapiano and Urban Taco will be serving special food combos, and Movida will be offering 30 percent off new fashion arrivals. The movie will begin at 8 p.m. on the outdoor pavilion, located at 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane (214-452-7180), but drop by anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. for the tasty treats.
