He first came into our lives in the late '80s with his debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. He put out a few more albums before deciding it was time to stretch his acting wings with a small cameo in Terminator 2. Then he decided it was time to test out the food market by starting his own brand called Bakersfield Biscuits. Have you even tried to guess who I'm talking about? Here's a hint: "I'm a thousand miles from nowhere." Yes, yes, I'm talking about Dwight Yoakam, the man who has done it all. Since 1986, he has released more than 20 albums, starred in numerous movies and his brand of food sells at Walmart, among other stores. You know you've hit it big when you have food selling at Wally World. Oh, did we also mention that Johnny Cash once called Mr. Yoakam his favorite country singer? Yeah, I would say that he's pretty damn successful. Now he is coming back to North Texas on Friday, February 5, at Resistol Arena (1818 Rodeo Drive in Mesquite) to put on a concert. He will have another country legend, Charlie Robison, opening for him starting at 8 p.m. For more information about ticket prices, visit ticketmaster.com.
