So after washing my hands with what's probably antibacterial soap in our fully automated touch-nothing bathrooms here at Dallas Observer headquarters, I sat with my immune-boosting yogurt cup and read headlines—which included one about the latest antibiotic- and soap-resistant superbug. Appropriate, as Zayd Dohrn's play Sick made its National New Play Network world premiere in Dallas last Friday and headlines Kitchen Dog Theater's 10th annual New Works Festival. The darksome comedy offers a peek at dysfunction, OCD as related to cleanliness, professor-student relationships, phobia and more. Funny stuff? Not normally, but given the popularity of black comedy hitting close to home these days, I'm inclined to think a mix of dysfunction and disease is just what the drama doctor ordered. Get Sick 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays (with additional performances) at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave. Tickets are $10 to $25.
