If you're an avid reader of this publication, you might remember our Masterminds competition from a couple months back. If so, you'll recall that actor/playwright/director/theater dude Matthew Posey was selected for an award among the 70 other artists/nominees that were submitted. Posey operates the Ochre House Theater, and this month he's staging his own play, Memphos!, a comedy centered around a vaudeville troupe on their way to obscurity. It features live music, slapstick, and loveable misfits. And nobody writes about show business like show business people. The troupe stars Posey himself, Mitchell Parrack, Elizabeth Evans and a handful of others for this world premiere run. If you're the kind of person who bitches about Dallas' lack of culture, and you don't go see this, we at the Dallas Observer sincerely hope you choke on popcorn when you're watching the next vampire movie Hollywood shits out. Showtime is 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays through February 26 at the Ochre House Theater, 825 Exposition Ave. Tickets are $15 at the door, or you can reserve some in advance. For more info, visit ochrehousetheater.com.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: Feb. 19. Continues through March 5, 2011
