Performers like Banachek really challenge the notion of "I'll believe it when I see it." Because when what you're seeing is a man bending and breaking forks with his fingertip, you start to doubt that even your eyes can determine what is real and what is simply prestidigitation. If it makes you feel any better, Banachek's tricks even fooled scientists into thinking he actually had psychic powers during the Project Alpha hoax in the late '70s. And if someone with a doctorate's degree can be hoodwinked, what hope is there for the average tipsy comedy club attendee? Thirty years later, Banachek's talents with sleight of hand and mentalism have earned him multiple awards as a "psychic entertainer." Be amazed by Banachek 8 p.m. Thursday at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road, Suite 250, in Addison. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com.
